The Cascades Family of 30% Recycled Paper is Overhauled.

SAINT–JÉRÔME, QUEBEC — October 3, 2007 — Enhanced and renamed, the members of the Cascades 30% recycled fine papers family are now FSC certified and their attributes are presented in a new swatch book.

Rolland Opaque30, Rolland Hitech30 and Rolland ST30, formerly Rolland Opaque, Rollandhitech and ST Generation II, now contain 30% deinked post–industrial fibre. Newly certified FSC Mixed Sources, these products are still Environmental Choice certified and manufactured in Canada using biogas energy.

According to Normand Lecours, Vice&ndash president, Sales and Marketing, “this change reflects both a concrete increase in interest and demand in the environmentally friendly paper market, as well as Cascades’ environmental commitment and promise for continuous improvement.” Cascades’ integrated corporate structure enables us to control the supply chain of the urban forest, recycled paper, from recycling bins right up to the finished product. Thus, all recycled fibre is treated without chlorine in our own deinking facilities, ensuring the commercialization of the actual attributes that were pledged.

Environmental by choice, each of these quality fine papers enables the reduction of the environmental footprint on the planet. The use of each ton – 40 boxes of 5000 sheets 8 1⁄2 x11, 50 lb., for example – saves the equivalent of 5 trees, 13,000 litres of water and 410 kg of air emissions.
