Appleton Coated: U B the Judge
This is the only design competition in North America that invites designers, printers, and merchants to choose which entries are most deserving of recognition. At exhibition events held in key cities across the country, attendees can see the entries first-hand and cast their vote for the one they like best.
To qualify, entries must be produced all, or in part, on Utopia® or Curious Collection products between January 1 and December 30, 2007. Submissions must be postmarked no later than January 4th, 2008. Five (5) printed samples must accompany each entry to be eligible.
Fox River Paper: 2008 Wine Labels of the World
Fox River will be accepting submissions of wine labels produced for wineries or distillers using Fox River Paper’s Estate Label®. Twelve or thirteen winners will be chosen from the hundreds of entries. The winning labels will grace the pages of the 2008 Fox River Wine Label Calendar and winning labels will be listed on the Fox River Paper web site.
Five (5) labels are required for the initial judging. Winners will be required to provide 2500 labels for inclusion into the 2008 Wine Label Calendar, as well as the vineyard’s historical information. Submissions must be received no later than July 31st, 2007. Judging will take place in August.
Mohawk Fine Papers: Touchy-Feely - The Mohawk Show 8
This design competition is open to projects printed primarily on any one of Mohawk's paper grades. All commercial work produced between June 2007 and May 2008 is eligible; including, but not limited to, corporate brochures, annual reports, books, letterheads, posters, etc. Multiple-piece projects, such as identities or marketing campaigns, should be submitted as one entry.
An entry form along with five (5) entries must be postmarked by May 31, 2008. If selected as a winner or honorable mention, ten (10) additional copies will be required.
Mohawk Fine Papers: Strathmore Letterhead Contest
Mohawk Fine Papers celebrates the designers who shape our world. You are invited to show the best of your work on Strathmore Writing papers. Entries will be judged on creative design, production excellence, and appropriate choice of paper.
Entries are judged the first week of the following months: January, April, July and October. All of the Strathmore premium writing grades are eligible. Fifteen (15) printed samples are required. Submission must include a letterhead. Envelope, business card, mailing labels, pocket folder and/or any other pieces in the identity system should be included in the submission when available.
Monadnock: Award of Excellence
Each Quarter, the Monadnock Award of Excellence expresses their admiration for the talents of the graphic arts professionals who create fine work on Monadnock papers. Any creative project executed in whole or in part on Monadnock papers is eligible for entry.
Submissions should include five (5) printed samples and a completed entry form. The Graphic Awards program is on-going, and entries may be submitted at any time. Judging takes place quarterly. Following the fourth quarter judging, all winning entries for the year are judged for “Best of the Best.”
Neenah Paper: PAPERWORKS
Neenah Paper recognizes the finest examples of Writing, Text and Cover use with two competitions. All of Neenah's premium grades are eligible and the competition is open to designers and printer representatives. Five (5) printed samples are needed along with a completed entry form.
The Text and Cover contest is judged quarterly while the Letterhead contest entries are judged the final week of the following months: February, April, June, August, October, December. There are three (3) winners for each of Neenah’s three sales regions in North America – that’s nine (9) total Text and Cover winners per quarter or 36 winners per year!

Sappi: 2007 North American Ideas that Matter
Ideas that Matter is a program form Sappi to support design for the public good. Monetary grants are awarded to designers throughout the world to help them create and implement projects that serve the causes that touch their hearts. Ideas are encouraged that have the potential to change our lives, our communities, and our world. If you have a cause you would like to support, Sappi invites you to make your idea a reality.
Deadline for submission of applications for 2007 ended on May 31, 2007. Grants will be awarded in August 2007, and Ideas chosen must be fully implemented within six months of receipt of awards; ie. by February 2008.
Scheufelen: New Horizons
Designers, art directors, and other creative people are kindly invited to join in on a journey to discover “New Horizons.” It’s all about leaving the frontiers of fantasy behind, about creating your own sky. How? By using your unique sense of color, shape and design. And by arranging the 373 color chips provided on a matrix of 10x27 spaces in a most creative way. Once you’re happy with your on-line creation, simply forward it to Scheufelen’s online gallery to be viewed and voted for by the visitors of their website.
The competition closes December 31, 2007. Prizes will be awarded in three (3) rating rounds. Who’s judging? Anybody who visits the Scheufelen website and votes for the entries. See link for details.

If your entry is a winner, you must also allow Tembec Paperboard Group to feature your work on its web site, on printed material and/or in press releases concerning this competition.
